We are GetCovered Kenya. An IRA-licensed insurance comparison platform headquartered in Westlands, Nairobi. We have covered over 10,000 Kenyans, issued 34,000 policies, settled KES 150 million in claims, and partnered with 32 IRA-licensed insurers — all since 2021.
But none of that is why we exist.
We exist because buying insurance in Kenya has always been unnecessarily difficult, unnecessarily opaque, and unnecessarily exclusionary for the very people who need it most. We built GetCovered Kenya to change that — one policy, one M-Pesa payment, one WhatsApp certificate at a time.

Our Story - Why GetCovered Kenya Exists
Brian Ndege had seen the inside of Kenya's financial system from almost every angle.
Brian Ndege had seen the inside of Kenya's financial system from almost every angle.
He had built digital finance solutions for lenders and insurers across East Africa. He had implemented core banking systems, designed data dashboards, and consulted for fintech companies trying to reach the next million Kenyan customers. He understood, better than most, exactly how the technology worked and exactly where it was failing ordinary people.
The failure was not in the technology. The technology existed. The failure was in the access.
A woman running a salon in Ongata Rongai could not easily compare health insurance options without calling three different agents, sitting through three different sales pitches, and waiting three different days for three different quotes each one confusingly worded and priced differently. A boda boda rider in Umoja could not tell, with any certainty, whether the insurance certificate he bought from a roadside seller was real or a well-printed fake. A small business owner in Thika had no straightforward way to understand what WIBA insurance actually required of him let alone buy it in the same afternoon.

A small business owner in Thika had no straightforward way to understand what WIBA insurance actually required of him let alone buy it in the same afternoon.
Brian had also gone through the BimaLab Accelerator the FSD Africa-backed insurtech programme run in direct partnership with the Insurance Regulatory Authority of Kenya. That programme, designed specifically to find the next generation of insurance innovators in Kenya, confirmed what he already knew from a decade of working in finance and insurance. The infrastructure for better insurance in Kenya existed. What was missing was a platform willing to build for the customer first not for the insurer, not for the agent, not for the broker.
In 2021, he registered GetCovered Kenya and started building.
The first version was simple. A comparison engine connected to a handful of IRA-licensed insurers, with M-Pesa as the payment method and WhatsApp as the delivery channel because that is how Kenya communicates, pays, and shares documents. Not through portals. Not through email. Through the apps already on every Kenyan's phone.
That simplicity turned out to be the point.
Within the first year, Kenyans who had never held a formal insurance policy were buying cover in under three minutes. Boda boda operators were getting legitimate PSV motorcycle insurance certificates on their phones. Salaried employees in Kilimani were comparing group health insurance plans over lunch and paying by the time they got back to their desks. Small business owners were sorting out WIBA compliance without a single office visit.
Five years later, GetCovered Kenya has issued 34,000 policies, served over 10,000 customers, settled KES 150 million in claims, and built a panel of 32 IRA-licensed insurer partners. The AI-enabled WhatsApp chatbot we launched in 2024 means our customers can compare quotes, get advice, and receive their certificates at 2 AM on a Sunday without waiting for an office to open.
We are not the biggest insurance company in Kenya. We are not trying to be. We are the most accessible. And for most Kenyans, that is what has always been missing.
Our Mission
GetCovered Kenya exists to revolutionise insurance digitisation in Kenya making genuine financial protection accessible to every Kenyan, regardless of where they live, how much they earn, or how much they know about insurance.
GetCovered Kenya exists to revolutionise insurance digitisation in Kenya making genuine financial protection accessible to every Kenyan, regardless of where they live, how much they earn, or how much they know about insurance.
We believe that a boda boda rider in Kisumu deserves the same quality of insurance advice as a corporate executive in Westlands. We believe that paying for insurance via M-Pesa and receiving your certificate on WhatsApp is not a luxury feature it is the only way insurance should work in a country where 97% of adults use mobile money. And we believe that the 3 million Kenyans who currently hold no formal insurance cover are not uninsurable. They are just underserved.
That is the gap we are closing. Policy by policy. Certificate by certificate.
Why GetCovered Kenya Is Different
We are IRA-licensed and completely unbiased. Licence number IRA/05/45715/2026. We are regulated by Kenya's Insurance Regulatory Authority and legally obligated to act in our clients' best interests. We earn a commission from insurers when you buy never from you. That means our job is to find you the best policy, not the most profitable one.

We compare 32 IRA-licensed insurers in one place. Every quote on our platform comes from an insurer licensed and supervised by the IRA. No grey-market policies. No fake certificates. No unlicensed intermediaries. Every insurer on our panel is verifiable at ira.go.ke.
We pay via M-Pesa and deliver via WhatsApp. Because that is how Kenya works. No bank account required. No app to download. No PDF buried in a spam folder. Your premium goes through M-Pesa and your certificate arrives on WhatsApp legally valid, officially stamped, and ready to present anywhere it is needed.
We have an AI chatbot that never sleeps. Our AI-enabled WhatsApp assistant compares quotes, answers insurance questions, and guides you through the buying process 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. When you need a human for complex advice, claims support, or a specific product question our team is one message away.
We offer Lipa Mdogo Mdogo monthly installments. Annual insurance premiums should not have to blow your budget in one month. Qualifying policies can be spread across 12 monthly M-Pesa payments so you stay protected all year without a lump-sum headache.

Before founding GetCovered Kenya, he built and led digital finance solutions for lending and insurance institutions across the region — designing core banking systems, financial data platforms, and customer-facing fintech products that reached hundreds of thousands of users.
He went through the BimaLab Accelerator, the FSD Africa-backed insurtech programme operated in partnership with Kenya's Insurance Regulatory Authority — an experience that deepened his understanding of the regulatory landscape and sharpened his vision for what insurance access in Kenya could look like when technology is genuinely built around the customer.
Brian is GetCovered Kenya's IRA-registered Principal Officer, the person legally accountable to the regulator for every policy issued through the platform. That accountability is not a formality to him. It is the reason he built GetCovered Kenya the way he did — transparent, regulated, and unconditionally on the customer's side.
When he is not building insurance infrastructure, he speaks at industry events on financial inclusion and digital insurance in Africa, and mentors early-stage fintech founders through local accelerator programmes.
Judith Bosibori — Head of Operations
Judith is the person who makes sure GetCovered Kenya actually works — every day, for every customer.
Judith is the person who makes sure GetCovered Kenya actually works — every day, for every customer.
She came to GetCovered Kenya from M-KOPA, one of East Africa's most operationally demanding consumer finance businesses, where she worked in customer care and developed a deep instinct for what Kenyan customers actually need when things go wrong — and how to fix it fast. That experience shapes everything she does at GetCovered Kenya.
Judith owns the end-to-end customer experience — from the moment a quote is requested to the moment a claim is settled. She manages the processes that keep 10,000+ customers covered and 34,000 policies active, and she is the reason our 5-star customer satisfaction rating is not just a number on a website. She built the systems and the team culture that earn it every single day.
If you have ever had a smooth experience buying insurance or sorting a claim through GetCovered Kenya, there is a very good chance Judith is the reason why.
Diana Korugari — Head of Marketing and Sales
Diana leads every conversation GetCovered Kenya has with the outside world.
She heads the marketing team, the sales function, and the telesales operation — the people who reach Kenyan customers where they are, speak to them in a language that makes sense, and guide them from first awareness to first policy. Diana's approach is grounded in one belief: that insurance does not have to be sold through fear or complexity. It just has to be explained clearly, by people who genuinely understand it.
Under her leadership, GetCovered Kenya has grown from a Nairobi-focused platform to a nationally recognised insurance brand. She has built the campaigns that have brought 10,000 customers onto the platform, the telesales team that converts enquiries into covered Kenyans, and the brand voice that cuts through the noise of Kenya's busy insurance market.
Diana is a marketing professional who understands both the data and the human behind every decision. She knows which messages resonate in Kibera, which ones land in Karen, and why both audiences deserve the same quality of communication.
Vincent Oseko — Insurance Expert and Content Strategist
Vincent is the voice behind GetCovered Kenya's content and the expertise behind everything we say about insurance.
He brings deep knowledge of Kenya's insurance market, the IRA regulatory framework, and the real-world experience of Kenyan policyholders navigating a system that has not always worked in their favour. Vincent translates that knowledge into content that is genuinely useful — guides that explain exactly what WIBA requires of a small business owner, articles that tell a boda boda rider in plain Kiswahili-inflected English what PSV insurance actually means, and product pages that answer the questions real Kenyans are searching for.
Before joining GetCovered Kenya, Vincent spent years developing expertise at the intersection of insurance, consumer finance, and financial journalism in Kenya. He understands that the gap between "insurance exists" and "Kenyans are insured" is almost always a communication problem and that closing it requires writing that respects the intelligence of the reader while removing every unnecessary obstacle between them and the right decision.
Vincent is also GetCovered Kenya's insurance compliance voice ensuring that every piece of content published on the platform is accurate, IRA-compliant, and genuinely in the interests of the Kenyan consumer.
Joseph Kitonga — Head of Innovation and IT
Joseph is the architect behind everything you cannot see on GetCovered Kenya and the reason everything you can see actually works.
He leads the technology and innovation function, overseeing the platform infrastructure, the AI-enabled WhatsApp chatbot, the insurer API integrations, the M-Pesa payment layer, and every line of code that turns a quote request into a certificate on a customer's phone in under three minutes. In an industry where technology is often bolted onto legacy systems as an afterthought, Joseph builds technology that is the product.
Joseph is a software engineer and systems architect with a track record of building fintech infrastructure in Kenya's demanding market where connectivity is variable, devices are diverse, and the user on the other end of the transaction may have a basic Android phone and a 3G connection. He builds for that user first. The result is a platform that is fast, reliable, and genuinely accessible.
The AI chatbot he built and continues to develop is one of the most advanced insurance-specific conversational tools in the Kenyan market capable of comparing quotes, answering complex policy questions, and routing customers to human advisors seamlessly when the conversation requires it. Joseph's innovation roadmap for GetCovered Kenya is ambitious, Kenya-specific, and entirely focused on one outcome: making insurance easier to access for every Kenyan, regardless of their device, their data bundle, or their technical literacy.

A Note on the BimaLab Accelerator
GetCovered Kenya's founding journey was shaped in part by the BimaLab Accelerator the FSD Africa-backed insurtech programme operated in partnership with the Insurance Regulatory Authority of Kenya. BimaLab is designed to identify and develop the next generation of insurance innovators in Africa, and to help them build products that genuinely deepen financial inclusion.
Being part of that programme gave GetCovered Kenya's founders direct access to global insurtech expertise, IRA regulatory guidance at the earliest stage of building the platform, and the institutional confidence to build an insurance business that is genuinely regulated, genuinely transparent, and genuinely on the customer's side.
